Menkom has been in business since 2003, with hands on experience since 1994 when the internet had its big bang. This is not just a job for us, we live and breath technology even as a hobby. We strongly believe that anyone who claims to be an expert in everything is like claiming ‘The Jack Of All Trades’. They may be good in some areas but probably not so good in others. What CMS’s (Content Management System) do we work with ?
We have tried and tested several open source CMS’s, we are strong believers in supporting open source software because its free, supported, actively developed, flexible and scalable. We don’t believe in supporting commercial CMS’s because we don’t think they are as powerful, as supported and as flexible. Supporting commercial and custom CMS’s basically means you will be tied down to one system, with minimal support contacts. Over the years we have researched and actively developed with:
WordPress
Probably one of the most user friendly systems available today, this is our first choice for most projects we engage in. Its easy to work with and is highly supported with a large community base that actively develops new features and plugins. WordPress is well suited to creating simple websites to complex customised websites (within its limits) without too much problems but for projects that require complex structures or high customisations Drupal may be the best solution. WordPress can be used for Ecommerce websites however again it has its limitation and we recommend that for full fledged Ecommerce only solution Opencart may be the best choice.
Drupal
Probably one of the most powerful CMS’s available, it can handle large Ecommerce websites as well as simple to complex customised websites. However it is not as user friendly as what other CMS’s are and requires more of a learning curve to achieve goals. Websites built with Drupal are very optimised for speed, even large websites do not suffer performance issues and are highly customisable there is literally no limits to what Drupal can do and we recommend this framework for very large or very customised websites.
Opencart
Probably one of the best looking, easiest to use, fastest Ecommerce CMS platforms available. If your primary goal is to develop an Ecommerce website then Opencart is very capable for the job. Out of the box it includes features that you would normally have to spend a lot of time building from scratch or finding suitable plugins with other CMS’s meaning less costs to get the features you want. Opencart is also extremely fast with low overheads, meaning the browsing experience is very nice and snappy. The admin panel is also very well laid out and easy for clients to understand and work with.
